Launched in 2011, like the Pixie , the Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima + follows on from the previous Latissima (very short). More compact, lighter and much more economical than the previous model, the Latissima + retains the capacity to produce cappuccinos but loses the cup warming tray, as well as various light indicators, such as that of the tray full of capsules. The water capacity was also reduced from 1.2 to 0.9 liters.

Ease of use
On the other hand, compared to the first versions of this coffee maker, the Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima benefits from an automatic full stop. Coffee stopping is also automatic.
The ergonomics are up to the price of the machine. We already appreciate that of the Pixie. We are still going up a notch in finishing. Particularly at the level of the collecting tray, removable, in one piece and therefore particularly easy to empty and clean, and the capsule insertion system, particularly pleasant to use!
This level of quality also plays in favor of compatible capsules – Nespresso should not appreciate this advantage more than that. They no longer get stuck in the machine, unlike what we can experience on more compact models.
As usual at Nespresso, you can only pour one coffee at a time (at others, it’s two) and the pressure is 19 bars – which is not a guarantee of automatic quality but just the assurance of getting a real espresso at the outlet, and not a Senseo filter coffee (the pressure is 1.5 bars).
As a reminder, the machines in cafes are often at 10 bars; going up to 19 bars here is more of a technical constraint linked to Nespresso capsules.
Speed
Preheating takes about fifty seconds – against 30 for the Pixie ! – and the first coffee to follow 30 seconds. Either the expected duration for an espresso made according to the rules of the art.
The cappuccinos run in about a minute.
Power consumption
Nespresso could probably speed up preheating; however, this would be to the detriment of energy consumption, measured here at 1200 W. This is the choice apparently made on the model a notch above, released in 2012: the Maestria . The announced power of the machine is this time of 2300 W to satisfy the most in a hurry … and the most fortunate considering the price of the machine (400 € without cappuccino, 550 € with!).
Good point otherwise: the Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima + does not consume anything after switching off. It sounds normal but it is however not the case on Philips Senseo.
Noise
With only 52 dBA on our meter, the Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima + is relatively discreet. It is particularly more so than the Pixie, measured at 56 dBA, which had come to hamper our test guinea pigs.
Availability of capsules
This is the downside of Nespresso and there is no hope that it will change because the whole business rests on it: Nespresso capsules can be bought, very expensive (35 cents each, against 15 cents per dose for Senseo machine ), at Nespresso only! This requires ordering on the internet or going to a physical store … provided you have one near you.
CONCLUSION
Silent, particularly well finished, extremely easy to use and clean, to perfect the Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima + only has to gain in speed of pre-heating, compactness as well as, for large tables, the possibility of running two cups at a time.
