Best Oral-B Junior Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals & Sales 2020:
After its Teen electric toothbrush rather dedicated to teens, Oral-B this time targets the youngest with its Junior, a model with a democratic price and basic functions.
Presentation
What could be more fun for a child than brushing their teeth with an electric toothbrush (BDE)? Much more motivating to use than a manual toothbrush, the BDE has a playful aspect which stimulates its use. Oral-B understands this and occupies the field of youth with a full range of electric toothbrushes: Oral-B Kids (for 3/6 years), Oral-B Teen (for teens), and, now Oral-B Junior. Dedicated to over 6s, this new model, sold for around € 45, aims to ” respond effectively to the arrival of permanent teeth”, according to Oral-B.

Ergonomics
If not her green or purple dress (your choice), the Oral-B Junior looks like many other electric toothbrushes. This BDE is of the tilt-and-turn type: it has a small removable brush with a round head that performs circular movements. It is necessary to place the round brush on a tooth so that it is as “wrapped”, hold in place for a few seconds then move on to the next tooth and so on. It is thus necessary to brush the teeth one by one then the gum.
In this, the tilt-and-turn technology differs from the sonic technology used by other manufacturers, such as Philips or Panasonic (the sonic system vibrates the brush at very high speed, up to 31,000 movements per minute).
Our Junior offers a pleasant grip. On the sides, Oral-B has placed two adhesive silicone bands to facilitate gripping; practical when you have a wet hand. A small led at the bottom acts as a charge indicator. The switch triggers the toothbrush. Only one brushing speed or force is offered. A charging station is provided in the box, as well as a brush. A small carrying case would have been a nice accessory to go to green class, in colo, or on weekends with grandpa and grandma.
Use
The Oral-B Junior is for… basic use; a simple button to press and off you go! Advice to parents: tell your children that you should not press the teeth too hard with the brush. And make it clear that the toothbrush doesn’t do all the work by itself. Indeed, by using it, it is necessary to apply conventional brushing gestures on the teeth. In order to invite children to brush their teeth during the regulatory time of 2 minutes (recommended for perfect oral hygiene), the engine of the Junior pauses briefly every 30 seconds. By dividing the mouth into four quarters (bottom left / right; top left / right), the child is alerted that he can change the brushing area.
At the end of the 2 minutes, the engine marks 4 small stop before leaving. Brushing can then stop. Indeed, most Oral-B BDEs do not stop alone, but send a signal to the user (at the end of regulation time) by marking these 4 very brief downtimes. The Junior offers only one brushing mode, unlike other more sophisticated models, such as theTeen (who is also online).
Note that the blue marking at the end of the brush bristles serves as a wear indicator. It is recommended to replace this accessory every three months maximum. And it would be wrong to deprive yourself of it: a brush costs about 4 €, or just over one euro per month. Obviously, we invite our dear blond heads to brush their teeth twice a day.
Noise
Measured 20 cm from our sound level meter, the sound level of the BDE Oral-B Junior is around 65 dB (A), identical to that measured with the Oral-B Teen, previously tested. This level is absolutely not disturbing to the ear (and let’s admit that once in the mouth, we hardly hear our BDE!).
Autonomy
Announced at 10 days with a single charge (40 minutes at the rate of 2 daily brushings of 2 minutes), the autonomy of the Oral-B Junior is in line with the manufacturer’s promise. To convince ourselves of this, we let the BDE run continuously and measured a time of 36 minutes before the battery was completely discharged. It takes around ten hours to fully charge this toothbrush.
CONCLUSION
Quite classic in its approach and basic in its functioning, the Oral-B Junior electric toothbrush is a simple and practical tool to give to a 6 year old child (or a little more) in order to accompany him in the acquisition of good gestures to preserve oral hygiene. The device is serious, without fuss or frills.
