Best Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals & Sales 2020:
The Deebot Ozmo 950 is Ecovacs’ latest flagship product. This new flagship brings out heavy artillery in terms of options: a laser mapping system, a long-lasting battery and a floor washing function.
Presentation
The Deebot Ozmo 950 is the most technologically advanced model in the vast catalog of Ecovacs. Very sophisticated, this robotic vacuum cleaner is equipped with a laser rangefinder and a mapping and navigation system which not only makes it possible to digitize and map up to three floors of a dwelling, but also to optimize navigation of the device in space. With automatic carpet recognition, this model is supposed to automatically adapt its power when it goes from a hard floor to a carpet. And to push versatility to the end, it incorporates a washing function thanks to a dedicated base. The latter houses a water tank and a wipe. Obviously, this abundance of features comes at a cost: the Deebot Ozmo 950 is launched at € 599.

Convenience of use
The square, triangular or D formats that are becoming more and more common on the market have not got the better of Ecovacs, which continues to opt for the round shape for all of its robot vacuum cleaners. As is generally the case with the manufacturer’s robots, this device is surmounted by a laser rangefinder.
Its overall height reaches 9.3 cm, so it is thinner than Neato vacuum cleaners (whose height reaches 10 cm). A single “Auto” button on the top of the device: it starts the robot or pauses it. All other functions are accessible from the application.
Connectivity and the Ecovacs application
The configuration of the device to the Wi-Fi network is automatic and takes place smoothly thanks to the scan of the QR code labeled on the device. Quite ergonomic, the application allows classic functions such as weekly programming, remote launching of the device, or even access to cards produced by the robot.
When cleaning is started, the robot performs real-time mapping, which allows the user to observe the evolution of the robot during the cleaning cycle. The robot’s trajectory is indicated by a white line which allows you to appreciate the zigzag navigation of the device. After each pass, the application provides a fairly precise map of the environment in which the robot has circulated and if desired, the user can then install virtual beacons to limit access to certain places.
Beacons cannot be installed during a running cycle; they must be defined before starting a cleaning. Once the zones are created, it is possible to identify them by labeling them.
From the application settings, the user can activate the continuous cleaning function which authorizes the Deebot to return to the charging station when the battery is empty and to automatically resume its suction cycle. Four suction levels: Silent (recommended for the mop), Standard (the default mode), Max and Max +. The settings also allow you to define the water flow used for the mop mode, 4 levels are also available. The application indicates “the very high flow rate can cause the robot to skid” , however, after having activated each of the 4 modes, it is difficult to distinguish with the eye the humidity on the ground, but so be it!
Interview
Regarding maintenance, no miracle: this Deebot Ozmo 950 uses the same codes as the Deebot 900 . The two side brushes to clear the corners are embedded in the robot and allow to direct the waste under the large roller made of nylon bristles. The hairs and the hair tend to cling strongly to it. We prefer by far the double rubber blades present on the Roomba e5 from iRobot .
This nesting system is much easier to extract and put back. Very unfortunate point, waste tends to accumulate in the orifice of the vacuum cleaner rather than in its collector, which does not facilitate the maintenance of the device.
The collector, with a capacity of 0.4 l, is easily accessible by lifting the cover on the upper part. It has a small handle which ensures a better grip. The mouth of the collector is preceded by a filter (HEPA way) which is easily dislodged. Behind this filter, there is another filter in the form of a small grid intended to retain lint and thick dust. By removing this part, the user can finally empty the collector. This system could have been slightly better optimized. Indeed, the opening of the collector is a little too large, which makes it easy to spill the dust that is housed there. We have known more practical.
Finally, small flat on the filling of the water tank which must be done very carefully by an orifice too small in this specific case.
Navigation system
The Deebot Ozmo 950 performs a methodical trajectory. Sometimes he works to clear the ends of the room and then clean the inside, sometimes he sucks following a zigzag path. Sometimes it only takes one pass to clean the surface, and sometimes it is caught ironing in the same place. In all cases, it clears and ensures perfect coverage of surfaces.
The management of the obstacles is rather well managed even if one can reproach this Deebot for forcing a little the passage around certain obstacles. He sometimes moved objects or small light furniture. Rest assured, there is no risk of jeopardizing the furniture. Falling point of the stairs as its elder, the R95MKII, could have suffered, which is a very good thing.
This vacuum cleaner was able to get out of certain perilous situations without any problem. Passing under a large table and surrounded by twenty feet of chairs, he managed to get out of this labyrinth strewn with pitfalls without any problem. Deebot does not work miracles around electrical cables. He swallows them up and drags them a short distance before releasing them. Among the many cleanings carried out on the entire space of the editorial office, the laboratory and our interior, we only had to intervene once to release it.
Aspiration
The suction performance is very good. On hard ground in standard mode, the Deebot picked up 94% of the materials in 4 min 46 s, and 95% in 6 min 37 s once set to its Max + mode. Surprisingly, the Max + mode took more time without really being much more effective. Side brushes tend to push the waste out a bit, and the waste slides more on hard ground than on fine carpet. This is the reason why, the Deebot does not manage to recover all the materials.
In fact, the benefits are better on fine carpet since in 5 min, the Deebot Ozmo 950 has engulfed 99% of the waste in Standard mode, and also 99% in 4 min 34 s in its Max + mode. The waste slips less on the carpet than on hard ground, thus the aspi-robot overcomes it more easily.
On long pile carpets, the results are more than respectable: in 9 min, the Deebot recovered 71% of the materials in Standard mode and 86% of the waste in Max + mode. These results are among the best observed in our comparison. Note that for the last two surfaces, we had to remove the base dedicated to the mop.
Noise
The Deebot Ozmo 950 is a rather discreet device. Its measured sound level varies between 47 dB (A) in Silent mode, suitable for mopping the floor, and 57 dB (A) in Max mode.
Autonomy
Ecovacs promises a 3 hour autonomy. For our part, we measured an autonomy of 2 h 50 min in Standard mode and 1 h 55 min in Max + mode. This Deebot Ozmo 950 is therefore a true marathon runner.
On the other hand, the charging time is extremely long. It takes 4 h 30 min to fully charge this robot vacuum cleaner.
CONCLUSION
The Deebot Ozmo 950 marks a real turning point at Ecovacs. This robot vacuum cleaner plays versatility and is full of options; it combines all the technologies and functions necessary to ensure optimal cleaning. We can blame him for his lack of softness around obstacles and an incredibly long battery charge time. But, for the rest, this Ecovacs is very convincing.
