Is it necessary to have a large image definition?

For several years, webcam manufacturers have been fighting a merciless battle to reach ever greater definitions. Today, as we have seen with the C910, Logitech offers FULL HD. However, Live Messenger as well as Skype offer a maximum definition of 720p during video conversations. In addition, the video stream is also compressed to avoid jerks linked to the internet connection, which results in a loss of visible image quality. In the end, we don’t use half the capacity of the webcams. The only way to get the most out of these devices is to use the video creation software that comes with the webcam. However, it is very often neglected by users.

Image quality

From the outset, the rendering of the Logitech HD Pro C910 is excellent. In a well-lit room, the displayed image is well detailed and the colors are just right. In addition, in 720p, the image fluidity is there.

We measured 48 frames per second using the software provided with the webcam. However, there is a slight decrease in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels). The flow then goes to 15 frames per second, which is still sufficient if the room is well lit.

In the evening with a desk lamp as the only light, the C910 does pretty well. Despite a slight drop in responsiveness, the image remains fluid enough to hold a video conversation. In addition, the webcam keeps a low level of noise in the image. A little advice, if the rendering seems a little dark, just go to manual settings, increase the gain and slightly decrease the exposure so as to have a brighter image with a slight loss of bit rate.

An exceptional software offer

Logitech offers a complete software suite with its C910 webcam. The program called “WebCam Software” serves as a gateway to all the others in the suite. It is therefore possible to take photos and record videos. Notice to those who want fun in their conversations, like all Logitech a little high-end, the C910 comes with a Video Effects tool that includes many avatars and accessories for the face that adapt to movements and expressions.

The software suite also allows you to transform your home into a cell monitored remotely: just to see if someone does not enter in your absence, that the children do not watch TV instead of doing their homework, etc. On the other hand, the software does not allow to warn by email as proposed by some competitors.Sound quality

This webcam incorporates the “RightSound” function. According to the manufacturer, the latter aims to eliminate echoes to make a clear sound. From our point of view, the only thing that this technology can do is to make a metallic sound. We therefore advise to deactivate it. From then on, the sound quality was simply exceptional. It feels like having the person next to you. It’s amazing!
