The LifeCam Studio webcam is the top model from Microsoft. It directly competes with the Logitech C910 and takes up the cylindrical design of the LifeCam Cinema by adding aluminum finishes.

Image quality
The LifeCam Studio is actually equipped with a 1080p sensor, but this definition is reserved only for photo mode. In video, it is limited to 720p. This definition is still quite sufficient knowing that Messenger 2011 and Skype can not go beyond.
In a well-lit room, the rendering is striking despite the colors a little too bright for our taste. In terms of speeds, we are below what the Logitech C910 offers (48 frames per second). We measured 15 frames per second with Microsoft in 720p, which still guarantees a fluid image if it does not involve too many movements.
In a dark environment, the flow drops. Jerks appear which can be embarrassing to hold a conversation. Apart from this defect, the image keeps a good level of precision.
Sound quality
After the video, the audio: The microphone of the LifeCam Studio reproduces the sound perfectly. The interlocutor’s voice is clearly recognizable. Stronger, the surrounding noises (computer, parasitic noises, ventilator) are isolated and suppressed. It is one of the best microphones integrated in the webcams tested to date!The software
As in previous versions, a software suite is provided. It consists of a webcam configuration tool and video and photo capture software. In this way, it is possible to make movies in 720p (but not in 1080p) and share them with friends.
Otherwise, Microsoft offers its panoply of avatars. You can distort your face in all directions, add a hat or a star on your cheek. After a few moments, you realize that the software lacks precision.

CONCLUSION
The LifeCam Studio is without question the best webcam produced by Microsoft: well-defined image, excellent sound quality and exemplary finish. However, that is not enough to reach the level of the Logitech C910, which is more fluid and which offers true 1080p video mode.
