Best Proscenic P8 Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals & Sales 2020:
Confucius said “Virtue never goes alone; it always attracts imitators “. It is therefore not surprising that the success of the cyclonic Dysons generates clones. Proscenic, a Taiwanese brand, is one of these. Does its P8 reach the height of original?
Launched a few months ago at € 199, the Proscenic P8 has seen its price skyrocket to reach less than € 100 today. For this price, we get a stick-type stick vacuum cleaner whose removable battery reaches 2,200 mAh and promises a 35-minute autonomy according to the manufacturer’s technical sheet. On the other hand, multicyclonic filtration is not part of the whole. So … is the P8 the business of the century, or a huge illusion? Response at the end of this test.

Convenience of use
Don’t you remember anything about this predominantly metallic gray engine block adorned here and there with touches of bright colors? And this suction tube all dressed in blue? You don’t have to look very far to guess where the inspiration for the Proscenic design office comes from. However, difficult to find anything to complain about the general finish of the device: the materials seem to be of quality and we did not notice too much play between the different parts during our manipulations.
Equipped with the suction tube and the mechanical brush, the P8 weighs 2.3 kg, which makes it one of the lightest models in our comparison. A very good point which makes the suction session less painful.
It is a stick-type stick vacuum cleaner. Thanks to an engine block and a filtration system located near the user’s hand, it is possible to use it to remove dust at height or on the shelves. On the flip side, this particular architecture means that it cannot stand on its own (to store it, for example), a feat that only the Hoover H-Free is capable of at the moment.
It will therefore be necessary to install a wall base for storage which, like that of the Delonghi Colombina Smart , is not equipped with connectors, yet very practical for recharging the batteries without having to connect the vacuum cleaner. he deserves to be able to accommodate the P8 only equipped with a brush, which was not the case with the base of the Colombina Smart.
Stick vacuums are rarely comfortable on long pile carpets. And the Proscenic P8 is not going to make tradition lie.
At minimum power, it only sucks 43% of the waste spilled in 30 seconds. At the end of the 120 seconds allowed, there are only 64% of the grains of rice in the collector, which means that there are still more than a third left in the pile of the carpet, scattered by the rotary brush. We have known more effective.
Fortunately, things improve on fine carpeting, since the first suction power makes it possible to harvest 93% of the rice in 30 seconds and 100% in one minute. The boost mode is a bit more effective since we collected 94% of waste during the 30-second suction session. It always takes 60 seconds to arrive at a perfect result.
It is on hard ground that the Proscenic P8 fully expresses its potential, even if it sucks “only” 98% of the rice spilled on this surface in 30 seconds, whatever the power level chosen. Obviously, in one minute, all the waste was collected.
Emptying the P8 waste bin is no problem. Just press a mechanical button at the base of the tank to open the bottom. Practical, easy, hygienic.
The rotary brush is easily accessible by manipulating a plastic latch located under the suction head. It can then be separated from the assembly to remove hairs and tangled hair. Putting it back in is just as easy.
Cyclonic filtration fulfills its function very beautifully. The foam filter only took 0.01 gram after the absorption of 20 grams of cocoa; an excellent result which, frankly, we did not expect. The dust sucked should therefore not be spit out.
The icing on the cake is that you can easily access the filters to clean them; just unscrew the upper part of the waste tank after removing it from the main unit.
Note that this last operation, sometimes delicate on some stick vacuums, is very easy on the P8 and that the tank is just as easy to replace.
Launched at minimum power, the Proscenic P8 lasted 31 min 15 s. The manufacturer’s promise (35 min) is therefore not kept. The stick vacuum cleaner runs out of breath after 23 min 10 s in boost mode . The removable battery increases the duration of the suction sessions. But to do this, it will be necessary to obtain several copies, the manufacturer supplying only one.
To be completely complete, it should be noted that fully recharging the batteries takes almost 4 hours. Many other models in our comparison were slower in this area (it takes 5 h 30 min for the Hoover H-Free for the same exercise), but we are far from the swift Bosch Unlimited BBS1224 (53 min only).
At low power, the noise level of the Proscenic P8 reaches 71 dB (A) to climb up to 74 dB (A) while climbing the towers. A vacuum cleaner is certainly a noisy device, but it is not really distinguished by its discretion.
“We do not look like those we admire by imitating their works” said Malraux. Even without having visited the laboratories of Proscenic, it seems very unlikely that they will resemble those of Dyson in Malmesbury . Nevertheless, the Taiwanese delivers a vacuum cleaner without fault, with excellent cyclonic filtration and easy to maintain.Be careful, it is not perfect; long pile carpets are not his cup of tea and we would have appreciated a wall base which allows recharge it without having to plug in the charger separately.
